Embrace stays in a trio of Northern Europe’s finest cities, then embark a Hurtigruten voyage to see the spell-binding Northern Lights. Uncover the charms of Oslo before flying to Bergen for an overnight stay. From here, you’ll embark your ship and set sail along the stunning scenery of snow-capped mountains and cascading waterfalls to witness the phenomenal Northern Lights.

Pass into the icy realm of the Arctic Circle and watch for sheer granite cliffs and soaring sea eagles as you pass by Nordic villages. Your cruise ends back in Bergen before you fly to Copenhagen. Seek out the city’s iconic bronze Little Mermaid statue and soak up the atmosphere of this vibrant city.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Fly to Oslo
Your holiday begins as you fly overnight from Australia to Oslo.

Days 2-3 – Oslo – Hotel Stay
A metropolis of art, museums and green open spaces; there’s something for everyone to enjoy in Oslo. On the west side, you’ll find the Bygdøy Peninsula, which boasts bewitching countryside, numerous walking trails and five national museums.

Day 4 – Bergen – Hotel Stay
Also known as the ‘City of Seven Mountains,’ Bergen is a pretty medieval city and the gateway to the majestic Norwegian fjords. Explore Bryggen and admire the multi-coloured wooden houses.

Day 5 – Bergen – Embark Ship
Embark the Hurtigruten ship in Bergen, the start of your fantastic cruise. After enjoying a delicious dinner, spend the rest of the evening relaxing as you admire the spectacular landscapes.

Day 6 – Floro - Molde
Following a morning in the vast Nordfjord region, you’ll sail to Ålesund to meet the resident penguins at Northern Europe’s largest saltwater aquarium. Explore the town’s iconic Art Nouveau architecture before arriving in Molde.

Day 7 – Kristiansund - Rorvik
Enter the Trøndelag region of Norway, where you’ll have time to explore Trondheim either at leisure or on a guided tour. Witness ‘Norway’s Notre Dame’, Nidaros Cathedral, and hike to Kristiansten Fort for panoramic views.

Day 8 – Bronnoysund - Svolvaser
A traditional ceremony marks your crossing of the Arctic Circle, where you’ll have the chance of witnessing the Northern Lights. Call at Ørnes and Bodø before entering the Lofoten archipelago to marvel at the 1,0000-metre-high Lofoten Wall.

Day 9 – Stokmarknes - Svolvaer
Dock in Harstad to take a peaceful morning stroll before reaching Tromsø. Explore the waterfront Polaria and get acquainted with the locals at Ølhallen pub, then head north for the 1622 town of Skjervøy.

Day 10 – Oksfjord - Berlevag
Welcome to Norway’s northern frontier. From Honningsvåg, take an optional excursion to the North Cape, marking the top of continental Europe. Sail to Mehamn in the evening, where you might spot cod drying on traditional wooden racks.

Day 11 – Batsfjord – Kirkenes - Berlevag
Early in the morning, dock at Vadsø, one of the most popular birdwatching spots in the Arctic. Reach Kirkenes, further east on the globe than Istanbul, before visiting the solemn Witches’ Monument and 1737 Vardøhus Fortress.

Day 12 – Mehamn - Tromso
In Mehamn, the fresh winter air and clear, starry skies are perfect for seeing the Northern Lights. Here you’ll also discover the small Vedvik peninsula which offers vibrant nightlife and live music performances.

Day 13 – Tromso - Stamsund
Today you’ll have more time to explore the serene Lofoten and Vesterålen archipelagos. Marvel at the white-washed Trondenes Church and see the birthplace of Hurtrigruten in Stokmarknes before reaching Svolvær in the evening.

Day 14 – Bodo - Rorvik
As the Seven Sisters mountain range comes into view, gaze upon peaks of up to 1,100 metres high. Explore Brønnøysund’s bustling marina and enjoy a stop in Rørvik, a charming fishing port that retains its traditional way of life.

Day 15 – Trondheim - Alesund
Enjoy a morning in Trondeim, visiting Nidaros Cathedral and stopping for photos over the Nid River. In Kristiansund, explore Norway’s traditional method for salt-curing cod and wander around the old town’s cobblestone streets.

Day 16 – Bergen – Disembark Ship – Hotel Stay
Today you’ll get your final glimpses of the Norwegian Fjords and the wildly beautiful coastlines, before disembarking the Hurtigruten upon arrival back in Bergen for a final night in a hotel here.

Days 17-18 – Copenhagen – Hotel Stay
Enjoy two nights in the heart of Denmark’s capital. The city owes much of its charm to the buildings erected by Denmark’s monarchs and boasts a treasure trove of late-Renaissance and Rococo architecture.

Days 19-20 – Copenhagen – Fly Home
Your holiday complete, today you’ll head to the airport for your overnight flight home.
